I have been practicing yoga since 2008, daily since 2012. Although my first contact with yoga took place much earlier. The butterfly pose, the yoga final relaxation "savasana", body scans and a form of mediation are things that I have been practicing since I was a teenager. I just hadn't heard of the word yoga yet. But yoga seeds were planted in me at an early age by those around me. Fun fact: my first yoga books came from my grandfather's bookcase.

In 2014 I took my first yoga teacher training and started teaching. Since then I have continued to develop my yoga practice. Both through many other yoga teacher training courses, by continuing to practice daily and from my yoga teachers Jared McCann (also my mentor), Andrei Ram and the Mohan family (direct students of Sri Krishnamacharya), who are an inspiration to me on my yoga path.

And of course I have been running the beautiful webshop for sustainable yoga clothing “YogaHabits” since 2015.

 

My Yoga Teacher Trainings

  • JM Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training (200 hours, Jared McCann, 2021)

JM Vinyasa is created by Jared McCann and is inspired by Ashtanga, Iyengar, Bikram, Dharma, and Forrest Yoga. Integrated into yoga classes that are both challenging and therapeutic. 

  • Bikram Yoga Teacher Training (500+ hours, Thailand, 2014)

Hot yoga serie with 26 hatha yoga postures and two breathing exercises 

  • Yoga Anatomy Training (72+ hours, Leslie Kaminoff, 2021-2022)

YogaAnantomy Practices training: applied anatomy in asana 

  • Raja-Hatha Yoga Training (5 days, Rome, Andrei Ram, 2023)

To reach a deeper layer in the yoga practice, there is made use of kriya, pratyahara, pranayama, prana nidra, mantra and a lot of attention for the breath in asana. 

  • Prana Nidra Method Training (5 days, Zaandam, Andrei Ram, 2022)

Prana Nidra is a very effective yoga technique to rest and charge yourself in just a few minutes. This form makes use of breathing visualizations while you are resting in savasana.

  • Svastha Yoga Therapy (300 hours, Mohan family, tradition of Sri Krishnamacharya, 2019-present time)

This yoga therapy method supports both group yoga classes yet mostly one-on-one yoga sessions. We work on changes and habits through the 10 domains: Awareness, Feeling, Words & Thoughts, Movement, Breathing, Senses & Lifestyle, Nutrition, Relationship, Life Meaning.

Mindful Yoga as an embodied practice, for mental health problems and emotional well-being. The goal is to improve the positive connection with our bodies, the find ease in unease and to understand what to do at what point.

  • Meditation Intensives (Jared McCann, november 2021 - present moment)

Jared McCann is my mentor and has become a dear friend. Three times a week we practice mantra, kriyas, pranayama and meditation in a group and there is room for questions and sharing experiences. On the other days of the week we practice our sadhana by ourselves (while having each others support via our WhatsApp group). A community from which I still learn a lot.

The specific content changes every 40 days, resulting in both deep experience with the different forms, while allowing to learn many techniques over time.

Ps. fun fact: last autumn I guided an Ayurvedic kitchari detox in this meditation group.

Andrei Ram teaches in the tradition of Dharma yoga (by Dharma Mittra). Andrei Ram has taught me a lot about pranayama, pratyahara and prana nidra.

In addition to having done some of his teacher training courses, I have also enjoyed many retreats, workshops and online lessons from him to become truly familiar with his teaching method.
