Ayurvedic nightcap: saffron latte

Probably you are already familiar with golden milk and chai latte. Did you knew, you could also make a delicious latte with saffron? Perfect to relax, nourish your vitality and/or drink as a nightcap.

 

Ingredients

  • 200 ml (vegetable) milk of choice
  • 1 fresh medjool date
  • 4 to 5 saffron threads
  • 4 almonds *
  • pinch of cardamom powder
  • pinch of ceylon cinnamon powder

 

* I personally leave out the almonds when I use homemade almond milk, as homemade almond milk tastes much creamier and still contains all the nutrients of the almonds (in comparison to almond milk from a carton).

 

Preparation (optional to omit if using homemade almond milk)

  • Soak the almonds for at least a few hours
  • Drain and rinse the almonds with cold water 
  • Remove the almond skins from the almonds (which is very easy to do after soaking the almonds)

 

Preparation

  • Add all ingredients to the milk and let it stand for 10 minutes
  • Mix it with a (hand) blender until you get a smooth drink
  • Heat your saffron drink

 

Pour your drink into a beautiful cup and enjoy it with awareness.
